BIOGRAPHY

Cheyenne Carrington-Greene began dancing at the age of four at the Caribbean School of Dancing (CSD) in Trinidad and Tobago. Born and raised on the twin island state, Cheyenne received the majority of her dance training there, with the exception of some commercial-style training from her secondary school, St. Joseph’s Convent San Fernando (SJC). She also has a minor background in cheerleading from SJC. There, she focused on hip hop and stepping, while at CSD she was trained in ballet, jazz, modern, and contemporary. Cheyenne is currently continuing her studies in dance, as she is working towards her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Contemporary Dance at The Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Cheyenne received a scholarship from the institution, and in addition to that, she received the KAK Dance Scholarship before leaving Trinidad to attend university. Cheyenne has performed with both local and international choreographers, some of which being Bridgette Wilson, Terry Springer, Andrew Carroll, Peter London, and has been in a restaging of Bill T. Jones’ ‘D-Man in The Waters’. She was a member of the Metamorphosis Dance Company for five years, doing both professional and non-profit work on the island. Cheyenne has been involved in many cultural events in Trinidad, including various carnival productions, such as the annual Kings and Queens competition, Machel Monday, and a film titled ‘Lavway: Our Story’ which highlights the importance of carnival in the Trinbagonian culture. Carrington-Greene has also had the honour of being a part of COCO Dance Festival multiple times, the largest contemporary dance festival in the Caribbean. One such time was in a piece called ‘Kotton and Kane’, which dealt with issues of racism and slavery, while another was titled ‘Dust to Dust’, and that tackles the cycle of life and death. Cheyenne has performed on some of the biggest stages in her admittedly small country, and holds every opportunity she received near and dear to her heart. Internationally, however, she has competed in Orlando, at the All Dance International Competition, performed at various summer intensives in the United States and Europe, and of course has performed at her university in Boston. Although her main focus is contemporary and/or concert work, while at school she is dipping her toes back into the commercial side of things. Influential teachers of hers at the conservatory include Ruka White, Kurt Douglas, and Brian McGinnis. Also in the creative field, Cheyenne loves to write in her free time. Cheyenne is more than thrilled to see where her artistic journey leads her post-graduation, and is open to whatever life throws at her.
